Teluk Gong is a small fishing village located near Pulau Indah in Klang. Surrounded by industrial areas and heavy ports along with roads plied by large trucks, there seems to be little allure to this humble place other than sustaining the locals who live here. In actuality, Teluk Gong is one of the popular food destinations for visitors from Kuala Lumpur, surrounding areas in Selangor and even Singapore.

The collection of a dozen or so Chinese seafood restaurants in Telok Gong have become a culinary attraction in Klang, perched among the likes of Bagan Lalang, Bagan Hailam and Kuala Selangor. The village attracts a mostly urban Chinese crowd, composed of families, friends or couples, willing to travel a 40 km distance from the city while braving long drives and traffic jams, just so that they may have a taste of glorious seafood. If you find it strange, remember that dining is an important aspect of Chinese culture, so much that it sometimes reaches ridiculous proportions, in the extent that some would go (or overlook stronger priorities) to get good food.
Hence, do not be surprised at the phenomenon of Chinese friends or relatives doing some crazy things for food, driving for hours and miles being one of them. That being said, Teluk Gong does have great seafood served in the Chinese method of cooking, along with menu prices that won't hurt the wallet (though the long drive there would almost offset the savings after counting the fuel and toll costs). If there is one seafood restaurant that has reached truly mythical status in the Klang Valley, then it would be Coconut Flower. This simple open-air restaurant located in an isolated corner off the main road has become so famous among visitors, that its name has become almost synonymous with Teluk Gong itself.
In reality, the other restaurants found in the area do serve equally good food as well, but how Coconut Flower far exceeded the rest in popularity appears a mystery. Looking back, it is claimed by some that Coconut Flower started out with humble roots by serving food at prices lower than its competitors. As the economic laws proved, this attracted more of the visiting crowd over the years, and eventually created the legend it is today. Still, visitors to Telok Gong can expect good food and cheaper prices than almost any Chinese seafood joint in the city, making the occasional quick trip here with friends or family worth the while.
